Excellent Travel Light Review by Danny J Page
I do a lot of work out of houses, offices, or other confined spaces and we do it quickly. Our productions are on limited budgets and limited time, so taking time to wait for a light to cool eats up too much time and money. Instead, these allow me to quickly move, adjust, and relocate with ease. Not to mention, every other producer I've met is amazed at how well they work. I've used these for both video and stills and I will happily be purchasing more. (Posted on 2/10/10)

Great Light! Review by Pete Allen
Let me start by saying I HAVE BOUGHT AND OWN THREE OF THESE LED 500 LIGHTS. I have been a professional Videographer over 20 years and I travel constantly; shooting inside the U.S. and overseas. I shoot with a Sony XDCAM HD and Sony Z1U. I am so pleased with the LED500 I use them almost exclusively for my ENG work. They put out a very even, soft, day light (my Omni lights with speed rings and Chimeras are beginning to miss me). They have enough punch to use out doors to fill in shadows. No more pulling shades inside to block out daylight or hanging CC gel over the window to match the color. I power each with IDX Endura 7 battery and an IDX C-EB adapter (attached with sticky-backed Velcro to the back of the lights) which run them for over an hour and a half (I put a stopwatch on it). The lights draw so little power the external power supply is almost an after thought when I pack up and hit the road. My co-worker took them to Africa and spent ten days in the bush with the Masai tribe (and believe me they don’t have electrical service in their mud huts) and he had zero problems. They travel great since they are light and you don’t have to buy or carry expensive replacement bulbs. LED’s last thousands of hours. Go buy a 220v FSK or JDC bulb and you begin to realize the savings you can reap with LED’s. They never get hot so I can pack them up immediately after shooting and I don’t have to worry about melting my other equipment or starting a fire. Try that with a hot Arri 650 and watch your gear and career go up in smoke. If you work around children you know the danger of a hot light. I use these in conjunction with a MICOBEAM 128. They are so easy to use it’s ridiculous. With the onboard dimmer and the bank of four switches which control how many LED’s are on I can dial in just the right amount of light. The throw on the light is excellent; far better than I ever expected out of a non-focusable LED light. I am so impressed with these lights I have put in the budget for next year two more LED 500s and four LED 1000s and a few more MICROBEAMS. I would highly recommend this light.
