Large soft panel lights are getting a lot of attention and being marketed hard by a number of companies. While these are pretty nice lights it's good to remember they only give you one type of light, soft light. So while these are great to have in your toolkit they are only one tool and only give you one look. And most of them are fairly pricey. Meanwhile, we have gotten another great user review (not paid marketing) on the Flolight BladeLight, a versatile light that you can use to get soft light, or more controlled and directed light so you are not a one trick pony when you light. The Bladelight can do what the soft panel lights do, but the panel lights cannot do the BladeLight does, and the BladeLight does it for a lot less money. If you only buy one or two lights you should strongly consider the BladeLight as your choice. Ideally your kit should give the ability to achieve different looks so be sure to look at the reviews and examples online that show how flexible the BladeLight is and the variety of looks you can achieve.
